COLD WEATHER: YOUR COCOONING PROGRAM
7 October 2020HOW TO BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR AT HOME?
8 October 2020Blow-drying, frequent coloring,
hair that has not seen a hairdresser’s scissors
for a long time… All these factors cause damage
and split ends.
Luckily, Leonor Greyl Institute’s Parisian stylist Stéphan
is on hand to share his pro tips for strong, healthy hair.
What exactly is a split end?
Split ends happen when tips get damaged and peel apart.
The split can be located higher or lower on the hair.
It appears when keratin, a protein that makes up 95% of the hair,
weakens and no longer provides its spring to the hair, which becomes
brittle and breaks.
Say goodbye to bad habits
If your hair tends to get tangled, do not pull on the knots:
isolate the strand and gently detangle.
As a last resort, use scissors to cut above the knot.
What to do once split ends start appearing?
Sadly, there’s nothing you can do to repair a split end, the only solution
is to cut it off.
Make an appointment at the salon and get a good cut done on dry hair.
This technique involves pulling a comb through the lengths to pinpoint
the split ends
and cut them out without missing any. Whatever you do, don’t try burning
your split ends with a candle: that’s a fast-track ticket to damage.
The right products for beautiful ends
* Cut about a centimeter every 3 months.
* Before washing, apply one or two capfuls of Huile de Leonor Greyl
to length and ends.
Whatever your hair type, this step ensures hair is deeply moisturized
and stronger.
* Tackle dehydrated and damaged hair with a weekly mask applied to
dry hair for 20 minutes: Masque Fleurs de Jasmin if you have fine
to normal hair, or the Masque à l’Orchidée version if your hair is thick
or frizzy.
* Heat is hair’s number-one enemy.
Use heat protection every time you pick up a blow-dryer,
straighteners or curling irons: Sérum de Soie Sublimateur is the perfect
formula for normal to fine hair, Éclat Naturel works well on thick or frizzy hair.
These two styling products can be applied to dry hair throughout the day
to give your ends a quick hydration boost.
Stephan’s tip to check that your hair is healthy:
Take a hair and stretch it out with your fingers.
If it stretches without breaking and bounces back,
your hair is strong and in great shape!
