TAKING CARE OF YOUR HAIR IN WINTER
26 October 2020UPDO HOW TO’S INSPIRATIONS
26 October 2020Like our skin, hair needs special attention in the summer –
especially if it’s colored or highlighted.
Caroline Greyl shares her tips for protecting it from the sun,
salt, and chlorine.
Unlimited oils
Oiled hair lends itself particularly well to summer hairstyles: bohemian braids,
high or low ponytails, “messy” buns… oil gives an ultra-shiny finish and leaves
hair delicately scented.
To protect your hair from external aggressions while hydrating it, there’s nothing
like a pre-shampoo oil.
Two to three capfuls of the Huile de Leonor Greyl at each application, spread over
the dry length and ends, are enough to take care of your hair all summer long.
Brush the hair after applying the oil, and do not hesitate to reapply.
To achieve these hairstyles, I prefer the Huile Secret de Beauté an easy-to-distribute oil.
You can leave it on as long as you like, up to 24 hours if you wish, and even apply it to the
body to give a satin finish and prolong your tan!
I never go on holiday without the Huile de Magnolia, a must-have for the summer.
It’s one of my favorite products. Multi-use, it’s applied to the body to hydrate the skin
at the slightest sign of irritation, to make your tan last, and acts as a make-up remover
for the face. Once you try it, it’s hard to do without!
Don’t forget to also protect your scalp from the sun… with a scarf or opt for a straw hat that
will let your hair breathe.
Choosing the right shampoo
If, despite these precautions, you have get a sunburn on your scalp, replace your shampoo
with the Crème aux Fleurs. This cleansing treatment will soothe your scalp and deeply
moisturize it.
Don’t forget to use a gentle shampoo, such as Shampooing au Miel
if your hair is fine or Shampooing Crème Moelle de Bambou if your hair is thick,
after each sea or pool bath. This step is crucial to remove sand, salt, and chlorine and limit
their aggressive effects on the hair.
After each wash, especially if you have long hair, give your hair a restorative break by
applying a conditioner mask to the length and ends. Leave on for 3 to 5 minutes on towel-
dried hair before rinsing.
If your hair is very dry, do not rinse your mask completely to prolong its action over time.
Banish blow driers and styling appliances as much as possible in the summer. Hair needs a
holiday too!
Are you afraid of the “foamy”, messy, or flat effect of air-drying? Here are a few tips to keep
your hair in the desired shape:
First, wring it out without rubbing, by wrapping it in a towel or a cotton cloth. Don’t leave it
under the towel for too long, as this may flatten it.
Do not apply any product to the roots to avoid weighing them down – unless it is a treatment
such as the Tonique Hydratant,
which has a very light formula that will coat the hair, or the Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice
if you are looking for more volume.
Appropriate styling treatments
For a smooth finish, apply a small amount of Sérum de Soie Sublimateur to length and ends
if your hair is fine or Eclat Naturel if your hair is thick, then brush to give it the desired shape.
Repeat this process once hair is almost dry, adding a little more product.
In the summer, it can be difficult to get a smooth finish because humidity can cause hair
to swell, especially by the coast. To get around this difficulty, take the “wavy” side by
accentuating the movement of the lengths and adding spring to the curls. Arm yourself with
Algues et Fleurs if your hair is fine and/or naturally wavy, Tonique Hydratant if it’s curly or
frizzy. Twist your hair around your fingers or braid it into pretty curls.
Finally, make beauty and protection from the sun go hand in hand by choosing the right styling care!
Several Leonor Greyl products offer this double benefit: Sérum de Soie Sublimateur,
Eclat Naturel, Lait Luminescence, Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice and Structure Naturelle.
